I've been busy and haven't kept up my News! A lot has happened but I'm sure I'll forget most of it. Since my last posting, I've had lessons here and there. One of which was not fun. Miss Splash decided it was a great day to play bronco and ended up cracking two of my ribs. They aren't broken, just cracked, and up high enough to where they don't cause me pain when I ride. It actually hurts me more when I sit at my desk because I have worse posture at the desk than on a horse. I rode Samson recently. He is 18.2 and a baby. We just worked on the flat since he was a bit full of himself that day. With cracked ribs, I didn't need any more excitement.
Lori and I went to Foxcroft School in Middleburg to tootle around there. We were meeting my friend Afshin and two friends he was bringing. Lori and I got there early and messed around in the outside ring. We actually got to ride for a good hour before Afshin showed up. Both of our horses were such good boys and schooled really well. We were expecting to ride on the trails after Afshin showed up. Unfortunately, a little girl who was to join us wasn't ready for a trail ride and their ride ended pretty abruptly. So, no trails that day. But, Lori and I were happy that we got our ride in.
Some new changes for Justin -- he is now on a feed called Ultium and I recently got LubriSyn for his hocks. He continues to put on weight and I'm looking for 50 - 75 more pounds to go before he is at a good weight. I should get the LubriSyn sometime early next week.
I also recently purchased SMB Elite boots for him and I have to say, even I can feel the difference when I ride him. I'm really pleased with them and I think they'll give him the support he needs for his sesamoid. Also, I got him some shipping boots. I've never been a fan of them in the past but after one of our horses' hocks got banged up on the trailer, I decided it was the best way to protect the whole leg. They worked out great. And, if you are coming home from a show, you can put your standing wraps with poulticing or favorite brace underneath.
OK, I have a flight to catch so I better run!
